Who else but James Gunn could leave the boss of Warner Bros. breathless with emotion? That’s exactly the state Warner Bros. Pictures co-chairman Mike De Luca found himself in after an early screening of Gunn’s upcoming Superman.
In an interview with Deadline, De Luca praised the director’s work, saying: "James Gunn has crushed it."
"It’s got tons of his trademark heart and humor and the action is jaw dropping. It’s the Superman I grew up with, so I get choked up when I watch it. I think it’s so epic and visually arresting and emotional. The performances are great. It is a five-star movie to me, and I can’t wait for the world to see it. Yeah, we’re really excited about Superman, James crushed it."
Mike De Luca also added James Gunn’s upcoming Superman captures the spirit of Richard Donner’s original, while adding epic sci-fi elements.He noted that the film includes touches of Guardians of the Galaxy and draws inspiration from comics like All-Star Superman, calling it a love letter to what has kept the character iconic for nearly a century.
James Gunn’s Superman is set to release on July 11, 2025 in the US, UK, Canada, and Australia. The film stars David Corenswet as Clark Kent/Superman and Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane.
