Prime Video’s We Were Liars makes its debut on 18 June 2025, offering an eight-part adaptation of E. Lockhart’s best‑selling novel, produced by Julie Plec and Carina Adly MacKenzie. Shot during summer 2024 on a private island off New England, the series blends lush visuals with a chilling undercurrent of suspense.
Emily Alyn Lind stars as Cadence Sinclair Eastman, the emotional centre of the story, and leads a tight-knit group of cousins and friends — the 'Liars' — who gather each summer at Cadence’s grandfather’s estate. The plot centres on a traumatic event that leaves Cadence with mysterious memory loss, forcing her to return and confront what truly happened during that sun-soaked season.
A compelling supporting cast includes Shubham Maheshwari, Esther McGregor, Joseph Zada, and veteran actors such as Caitlin FitzGerald, Mamie Gummer, Candice King, Rahul Kohli, and David Morse.
The series deftly mixes privilege and unease, portraying an elite American family whose summer idyll masks deeper fractures. While the setting appears idyllic — with ocean breezes and grand estates — shadows linger beneath the surface, as tensions rise and loyalties are tested .
With all episodes dropping at once, We Were Liars offers a binge-worthy exploration of memory, trust, and truth. Audiences drawn to mysteries with emotional depth and atmospheric storytelling will find much to savour in this thriller.
