Director Antoine Fuqua’s long-awaited biopic Michael, based on the life of music legend Michael Jackson, may be split into two parts. According to sources close to the production, the current cut runs close to four hours, and producers are weighing whether to divide the film — though no final decision has been made.
Backed by Lionsgate and produced by Graham King (Bohemian Rhapsody), the film covers Jackson’s journey from his childhood in Gary, Indiana, to the heights of Thriller fame and the later controversies that shaped his public image. Originally set for an October 3 release, the film’s debut now appears uncertain. While a 2026 date has been floated, there’s still a slim chance it could arrive by the end of this year in time for awards season.
Starring Jackson’s nephew Jaafar Jackson in the title role, the cast also features Colman Domingo as Joe Jackson and Nia Long as Katherine Jackson.
