Tom Hiddleston isn’t gunning for 007’s tux just yet — but that doesn’t mean he hasn’t thought about it. In a recent interview with Movieweb, the Loki star admitted he’s a lifelong Bond fan and even has a favourite installment (Spectre, in case you’re wondering). But when it comes to actually taking on the mantle? There’s one personal rule he refuses to break.
"I would never want to displace or even try to displace Daniel Craig from his place in the pantheon of Bond," Hiddleston said, making it clear he has too much respect for his predecessor to swoop in with a martini and a smirk. "It’s such a legacy character. It should be earned, not chased."
While the Bond talk continues to swirl, Hiddleston’s focus is firmly on another complex role — Chuck Krantz, the lead in Mike Flanagan’s adaptation of Stephen King’s The Life of Chuck. The film explores mortality in three acts, something Hiddleston admits struck a personal chord.

"Life is short, and there’s a necessity to grab it with both hands," he said. "We don’t know how short it’s going to be. None of us knows the day the lights go out. All we know is we have the life we have right now."
Whether it’s Bond or something far more introspective, one thing’s certain: Tom Hiddleston chooses his roles — and his rules — with care.
