What happens when a superhero backs a political supervillain — at least in Hollywood’s eyes? Zachary Levi, the face behind Shazam!, is finding out the hard way. In a bold new Variety interview, Levi reveals that his support for Donald Trump has quietly cost him work — and maybe more.
"I know that there are people that would prefer not to work with me now because of my opinions," he says. "It’s unfortunate. I knew that was probably going to happen."
The shift wasn’t sudden. Levi had voiced frustrations with the entertainment industry long before his Trump endorsement, calling Hollywood "deeply broken" and "ideologically rigid." After initially endorsing RFK Jr., his pivot to Trump culminated in a rally appearance in September 2024, where he proclaimed: "We’re here to make sure that we are going to take back this country, we are going to make it great again." The move sparked immediate backlash online, with some fans questioning whether he’d return for future Shazam instalments.

Still, Levi insists he’s no blind loyalist, calling Trump "not the Orange Messiah" and acknowledging, "I could be getting bamboozled right now." Yet even as Hollywood cools, a new audience is warming up. "There’s a lot of people on that side of the political spectrum who are even more inclined to hire me" he adds. In an industry where silence is safe, he’s chosen the louder, riskier path — and it’s shaking things up.
