Ryan Gosling may become part of the biggest cinematic saga in history. While nothing is officially confirmed yet, talks are ongoing.
Shawn Levy, the director behind Deadpool and Wolverine, seems to have been so impressed with Ryan Gosling’s performance that he has cast him in his upcoming, untitled Star Wars film. The screenplay for the project has been penned by Jonathan Tropper, known for This Is Where I Leave You and The Adam Project, with Levy developing the film since late 2022.

As the Hollywood Reporter says this new film is set to be a standalone story, not connected to the Skywalker Saga, which concluded with The Rise of Skywalker in 2019. Details about the plot are being kept tightly under wraps for now.
Levy’s movie will follow The Mandalorian & Grogu, the first Star Wars film to receive a green light in over five years. That film, which recently wrapped principal photography, is scheduled to premiere on May 22, 2026.
For Gosling, this marks a major shift in his career, as he has yet to be a part of a blockbuster franchise, unlike many of his peers in leading roles.
