The Sequel to 'Batman' Postponed for Another Year, But There is Still Good News for Fans

Still from the movie 'The Batman' (2022)

The process is moving forward, although it may take more time than we all would like.

Fans of Robert Pattinson have been upset for several months now, primarily because the films featuring the actor in the lead role keep getting postponed: first, the premiere of Mickey 17 was delayed several times, and just a few days ago, news emerged that the sequel to Batman will hit theaters a year later than planned. In the case of the latter, superhero fans will have to be patient until 2027, but there’s no need to be too disappointed—especially after what director Matt Reeves shared about Batman 2.

Filming for the Batman sequel will begin much earlier than everyone thought.

This was confirmed by the director himself at the Golden Globe ceremony held last night. Although Reeves declined to go into details or reveal plot specifics, he assured reporters that he would start filming Batman 2 this year. According to Reeves, the sequel will take place immediately after the events of the first film, and he hopes to surprise audiences once again.

The post-production of the second Batman will take two years—but that time is just enough.

As of now, the premiere of the sequel is scheduled for October 1, 2027, so if the film is indeed shot this year, Reeves will have a full two years to refine the project. Typically, post-production takes about a year on average, but considering the significant role of visual effects in Batman, it will be quite reasonable to allow Reeves to spend more time on the film than usual.
