Every year, Hollywood offers more films with a wide variety of plots, but for many, nothing can replace the good old romantic dramas and comedies from the 2000s — and Netflix seems to have known this for a long time. The streaming giant has been adding well-known films that hit the screens 25 years ago to its collection, and one such classic has recently "landed" on Netflix — fans of Hugh Grant and Julia Roberts are already aware.
Notting Hill is now available to watch on Netflix
The now-iconic rom-com was released in theaters in 1999 and has since become a staple on both big and small screens, amassing a whole army of fans. The plot of Notting Hill unfolds in the prestigious eponymous neighborhood of London, where William Thacker runs a small travel bookstore. His life is mundane and boring — his wife left him for another man, and he now has to live with his somewhat dim-witted friend Spike — until the famous Hollywood actress Anna Scott accidentally walks into his shop. The leading roles in the film were played by Hugh Grant and Julia Roberts, whose performances were recognized with Golden Globe nominations in 2000.

There could have been a sequel to Notting Hill — luckily, Julia Roberts rejected the idea
This was once revealed by producer and co-writer Richard Curtis — according to him, he had an idea for the second part, but the plot would have taken a completely different direction. Curtis wanted to "break up" William and Anna, who got married at the end of the original film, but Julia Roberts did not appreciate this concept and declined to participate in the sequel.
