If you're still remembering the third episode of the first season of The Last of Us — the one about Bill and Frank — then get ready: the second season promises something even more powerful. At the premiere, the creators of the series — Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann — hinted that one of the episodes of the new season will surpass even the legendary A Long, Long Time Ago.
"Just wait," Mazin said mysteriously on the red carpet, and Bella Ramsay, not hiding her emotions, added:
"The scenes from the last episode are some of my favorites of all time filming."
But that's not the only good news. The second season will be shorter than the first (7 episodes versus 10) — which means less "fluff" and more focus. Viewers can expect a five-year time jump, new challenges for Joel and Ellie, and, apparently, even more emotional blows below the belt.
"There's a scene in the season finale that was powerful in the game, but evolved into something mind-blowing in the show," Mazin promised.
Fans of the game already know what moments are in question — no mention of golf! — but the showrunners clearly have some surprises in store for those who haven't played. The big question now is: can this season replicate the magic of Ever After — or surpass it?
"That episode with Bill and Frank... it just happened. But there's something equally as beautiful this season," Mazin assured.
All we have to do is wait until April 13 to see if Season 2 will be even more painful, deeper, and better than Season 1.
