Many may still doubt that Stephen King can be scared by anything — the writer has given his fans countless sleepless nights after reading his creepy novels or watching one of their film adaptations late at night.
However, even King can be frightened just like any other mortal, though only a few films have that ability — one of them being a psychological thriller that once received a perfect rating from film critics.
Calibre — One of the Scariest Horrors According to Stephen King
The film, starring Jack Lowden, was released on Netflix back in 2017, and around the same time, King shared his own review on social media. The writer mentioned that Calibre had been a real (and quite terrifying) discovery for him, blending Hitchcockian suspense with elements of the cult folk horror The Wicker Man.

The film’s plot revolves around two lifelong friends who decide to shake things up by going to a remote Scottish village for a weekend getaway. After drinking heavily and deciding to go hunting in the local woods, they find themselves face-to-face with something utterly unexplainable.
Calibre Boasts 100% Positive Reviews from Critics
The film has generally received good ratings on Rotten Tomatoes — viewers, for example, gave Calibre a 79% "freshness" score, and critics, as mentioned, were 100% thrilled by it.
