Step up from 'Top Gun'? New 'F1' Movie with Brad Pitt Set to Outdo Tom Cruise's Hit

The movie's director promises to deliver something fresh to audiences.

Not only Tom Cruise can do this. It turns out that Brad Pitt is just as skilled as his famous colleague, who enjoys performing stunts himself. In the new F1 movie, the actor surpassed himself and did something incredible.

In the movie, stars Brad Pitt and Damson Idris drive modified F2 cars themselves in front of live crowds.

"We've got Brad and Damson actually driving the cars, which is pretty spectacular in itself, but to do that in front of a live audience and at the speeds they're doing it and figuring out a way to capture it… The logistics of it are unlike anything I've done before," movie director Joseph Kosinski said in an interview with the Deadline.

The film is also being produced by seven-time Formula One champion Lewis Hamilton through his studio, Dawn Apollo Films, and he’s also consulting on the project.

"He's the first person I contacted three years ago. I knew for us to make it as authentic as possible, someone on the team who lives it day-in and day-out would be invaluable," said Kosinski.

He added that Lewis has been an amazing partner, joining Zooms between races to review the script and make sure all the details, from lines to tire compounds, are correct.

Kosinski, who previously directed Top Gun:Maverick with Tom Cruise, mentioned that this film is a step up from the Top Gun. He explained that everything is smaller now, with the big innovation being the ability to control the camera movement on the cars, unlike the fixed positions they had in Top Gun.

The F1 movie, featuring Brad Pitt in the leading role, will hit theaters this summer.
