Is it just another mission for Marvel’s misfits — or the beginning of something much bigger? Thunderbolts, the 36th film in the MCU, hit U.S. and Japanese theatres on May 2, 2025, and it’s already stirring up the fandom with action, ambiguity, and post-credits teasers that point toward a very crowded future.
The film brings together a band of morally grey anti-heroes, but it’s Bob/Sentry, played by Lewis Pullman, who steals (and nearly destroys) the show. After being injected with a serum that amplifies his powers, Bob loses control and unleashes his monstrous alter ego, the Void.
Though originally introduced as a potential saviour, his internal battle becomes the Thunderbolts’ biggest threat — until Yelena (Florence Pugh) helps him claw back control. Behind the curtain? Valentina Allegra de Fontaine (Julia Louis-Dreyfus), coolly pulling strings as head of the CIA and O.X.E., orchestrating operations while protecting her own dark agenda.

Viewers who stick around will be rewarded with two post-credit scenes: one mid-credits, and a final one teasing the arrival of none other than the Fantastic Four. That last moment, filmed during Avengers: Doomsday, hints at a multiversal storm brewing.
If you missed Thunderbolts in cinemas, don’t worry — the digital release is expected by July 2025, with Disney+ likely following in August. Just enough time to catch up before Marvel’s next phase takes flight.
