Production is officially underway on Ready or Not: Here I Come, the highly anticipated sequel to 2019’s surprise horror-comedy hit. Samara Weaving reprises her breakout role as Grace, the blood-soaked bride who survived one hell of a wedding night. The film, directed once again by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett of Radio Silence, has begun shooting in Toronto.
Joining Weaving in the sequel is an impressive new cast that includes Sarah Michelle Gellar, Elijah Wood, Shawn Hatosy, Néstor Carbonell, Kevin Durand, and David Cronenberg. Original behind-the-scenes talents also return, including cinematographer Brett Jutkiewicz, costume designer Avery Plewes, and production designer Andrew Stearn
The first Ready or Not became a surprise hit, grossing $28 million domestically on a $6 million budget. Its mix of biting satire, horror, and comedy earned it a cult following and made it Searchlight’s top release of 2019.
Both the filmmakers and studio have expressed excitement about building on the original's success with a new, expanded cast and creative team. As Searchlight’s Matthew Greenfield put it, the sequel promises to be "every bit as twisted and fun" as the first.
