The Studio Still

The Studio is shaping up to be a must-watch for anyone who enjoys a blend of humour and the chaos of the entertainment industry.

With its official premiere at the 2025 SXSW Film & TV Festival, the show is already generating excitement before it even reaches screens worldwide. Featuring a star-studded cast and cameos from A-list celebrities like Martin Scorsese, The Studio promises to deliver both laughs and star power in abundance. Seth Rogen’s take on the modern film industry, merging comedy with real-world absurdities, offers a fresh perspective on Hollywood’s relentless hustle.

Release Date & Where to Watch

The ten-episode comedy will debut globally on Apple TV+ on Wednesday, 26 March 2025, with the first two episodes, followed by weekly releases every Wednesday until 21 May 2025. The series premiered at SXSW on 7 March 2025.

What is the Plot of The Studio?

In The Studio, Seth Rogen stars as Matt Remick, the newly appointed head of Continental Studios, a fictional Hollywood powerhouse akin to Sony Pictures and Warner Bros. As he attempts to revitalise the studio, he faces numerous challenges. With the industry rapidly evolving, Matt must navigate the chaos of modern Hollywood while managing a team of executives, each grappling with their own insecurities.

The series presents a sharp satire of the film industry, highlighting the absurdities of maintaining relevance in an ever-changing landscape. It features a stellar cast, including Catherine O'Hara, Kathryn Hahn, Ike Barinholtz, and Chase Sui Wonders as members of Matt’s team.

Meanwhile, top names like Paul Dano, Martin Scorsese, and Charlize Theron appear as themselves in the show’s first episode, all wrapped up in Matt’s frantic quest to secure a director for his first major project: a feature film adaptation of Kool-Aid. In a pivotal moment, Matt exclaims,

"I have to ruin movies for a living."

The Studio Still

The trailer showcases a star-studded ensemble cast and highlights the series' comedic portrayal of the film industry's inner workings.

The Studio is co-created by Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, Peter Huyck, Alex Gregory, and Frida Perez. Rogen and Goldberg, known for blending humour with social commentary, bring their unique perspective on Hollywood to this project.

The result is a show that’s not just a satire but an exploration of the pressure, failure, and triumph that defines Hollywood. As Rogen and Goldberg put it, “We wanted to make a show that was as funny, stressful, frustrating, uncomfortable, and ultimately, as joyous as life in Hollywood can be.”
