Riches to Rags: Jonah Hill’s Next Comedy Follows Twins Learning to Live Without Wealth

Global Look Press — Jonah Hill

The actor-director is back behind the camera for a new Warner Bros. comedy.

Jonah Hill is set to return to the director’s chair for Cut Off, a new comedy at Warner Bros. The project, which recently secured California production tax credits, will follow two non-fraternal twins who are suddenly cut off from their wealthy family and forced to navigate life without their privileged upbringing. Hill will not only direct but also star in the film as one of the twins.

A New Directorial Project for Hill

Cut Off marks Hill’s second directorial effort following his acclaimed 2018 film Mid90s. That coming-of-age drama, produced by A24, was praised for its raw and authentic portrayal of youth culture. Now, Hill is taking a comedic turn, returning to a genre that made him famous, but this time bringing his distinct directorial style to the table.

The film is rumored to begin production in the fall, but one thing that has already been confirmed is that Jennifer Lawrence is not attached to the project, despite earlier reports suggesting otherwise.

Hill’s Expanding Film Career

Before diving into Cut Off, Hill has already completed work on his sophomore directorial project, Outcome, starring Keanu Reeves and Cameron Diaz. The film has reportedly been testing well, and Warner Bros. is eyeing a fall release. With Cut Off, Hill continues to establish himself as both a filmmaker and performer, blending sharp comedic sensibilities with a unique directorial voice. As production gears up, fans will be eager to see how he brings this riches-to-rags tale to life.
