After 26 years of sailing through manga, 1100+ anime episodes, and one unexpectedly successful Netflix series, Eiichiro Oda seems to be tired of secrecy. In a recent interview, the mangaka gave a slight glimpse into the ending of One Piece — and it appears that fans are in for not an epic battle, but a grand... banquet.
The Same Record, It's His Party
Oda has often said that One Piece is a story about freedom, friendship, and adventure, rather than a dark saga like Game of Thrones. But now, he clarified:
"If someone dies, you can't throw a cheerful party. And a party is the perfect form of friendship. I want to end One Piece with a big celebration."

So, when Luffy becomes the Pirate King, and all enemies are defeated, the Straw Hat crew will celebrate not with tears, but with heaps of food. However, the crew will likely go their separate ways—whether this will be touching or overly sweet remains to be seen.
The End is Already Planned
Oda confirmed that the last panel and the final chapter are already planned. What's more, in the final saga, the focus will shift from Luffy to the world, tying up all the storylines.

But the key point — there will be minimal deaths. Even after over 1000 chapters, Oda remains the same guy who promised a "fun pirate story" in 1997 — and he kept his word. For years, fans have speculated whether Shanks would die, if Luffy would perish, or if even one crew member would meet their end — but it seems Oda won't give them the drama. However, if the ending really does turn out to be a huge friendly party with Brook playing his guitar... that would be very much in the spirit of One Piece.
