Fresh off her Best Actress Oscar win for Sean Baker’s Anora, Mikey Madison has passed on the chance to join one of Hollywood’s biggest franchises. Source tell, that the actress was offered a role in the untitled Star Wars film from Deadpool & Wolverine director Shawn Levy, but talks have ended, with Madison choosing not to move forward.
The project, which stars Ryan Gosling and features a script by Jonathan Tropper (The Adam Project), is being developed as a standalone story — separate from the Skywalker saga — and produced by Levy’s 21 Laps and Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy. Plot details remain tightly under wraps. Had she accepted, Madison would’ve joined a rare lineup of actors stepping into the galaxy — and Levy, a rare director to work with both Ryan Reynolds and Ryan Gosling.
So far, The Mandalorian & Grogu, slated for May 22, 2026, is the only Star Wars movie to officially move forward in over five years.

For Madison, who previously starred in Better Things, Once Upon a Time in… Hollywood, and Scream 5, Anora marked a turning point — and her first role she didn’t have to audition for.
"I was scrolling through my Dropbox the other day and saw hundreds of auditions I’ve done — so many hours of work," she said on Variety’s Awards Circuit podcast. "But then, everything that came after was extremely difficult."
Post-Anora, Madison appears to be choosing her next steps carefully. She has been offered the lead role in Zach Cregger’s upcoming Resident Evil reboot, which already has Austin Abrams attached to star. Additionally, she is reportedly being considered for projects by acclaimed directors Colleen Hoover and Greta Gerwig.
