The film Anora made a real triumph at the Oscars, taking home statuettes in the most important nominations. Although it was a surprise, bookmakers predicted a similar development of events several weeks before the awards.
Not long ago, experts noted that Anora won largely due to it's powerful ending, which turned out to be more impressive than that of Conclave. The same thing happened with Green Book and CODA, which became the best in their year. But Sean Baker's film could have had a different ending.
The secret ending of Anora
In one of his interviews, the director said that he planned to show a few more minutes in the film. Only Yura Borisov, Mikey Madison, and a couple of producers knew about this.

Baker is currently not giving details of what he was going to film, but his hint says a lot. The couple will probably stay together and raise a child.
"The biggest spoiler: we would have seen Annie and Igor in nine months," the director noted.
The Ending of Anora
However, Baker decided to forego showing the couple's future. Thus, Anora ends on the notorious scene in the car, which many found very powerful.
When Annie thanks Igor for returning the ring in the only way she understands, she begins to cry. And if some believe that in this way the heroine realizes her return to her past life, others are sure that on the contrary, this symbolizes Anora's internal clash with new emotions and her upcoming changes.
