Once hailed as Hollywood’s brooding indie prince, Boardwalk Empire star Michael Pitt now finds himself at the centre of a harrowing legal storm. Arrested on multiple counts of sexual abuse, assault, and attempted strangulation, Pitt's dramatic off-screen turn could rival any of his on-screen performances — except this time, the stakes are painfully real.
ABC reveals, that according to prosecutors, the disturbing incidents occurred in his Brooklyn home between April 2020 and August 2021.
Now 44, Pitt faces nine felony charges, including allegations of forcing oral sex, attacking the victim with a wooden plank and a concrete block, and attempting to strangle her. The actor has pleaded not guilty and was released on $100,000 bail.

His attorney, James Goldman, called the charges "baseless" and claimed to possess evidence that would clear Pitt's name. A court date has been set for June 17.
As the industry continues to reckon with abuse allegations, this case adds yet another name to the growing list of once-celebrated stars facing serious accusations. Whether Pitt’s legal team can dismantle the case — or whether Hollywood will once again be forced to confront one of its own — remains to be seen.
