Not Six but Eight Episodes: Season 2 of 'The Walking Dead: Dead City' Begins — The Line Between Good and Evil Finally Disappeared

Stills from the series 'The Walking Dead: Dead City' (2023)

The next episode airs on May 11.

Things are once again unsettled in The Walking Dead universe — the second season of The Walking Dead: Dead City has officially begun. The first episode premiered on May 4, and from now on, a new chapter in the story of two former enemies turned reluctant allies will be released each week.

At the heart of the story are Maggie and Negan, familiar to viewers from the original show. In the first season, they traveled to a chaotic Manhattan to rescue Maggie’s son, Hershel. But in season two, the situation has shifted. Nearly a year has passed since their arrival, and now the former partners find themselves on opposing sides of a growing war for control over the city. The boundaries between good and evil blur once more, while personal vendettas rise to the surface. The atmosphere grows darker, and the conflict becomes increasingly personal.

Season two is more expansive: this time, it includes eight episodes rather than the previous six. Each will be released weekly. The finale is scheduled for June 22.

Here is the full release schedule:

Episode 1 May 4
Episode 2 May 11
Episode 3 May 18
Episode 4 May 25
Episode 5 June 1
Episode 6 June 8
Episode 7 June 15
Episode 8 June 22

Based on promotional materials, the second season promises large-scale battles and complex moral choices. But the main tension lies in the evolving relationship between Maggie and Negan — one that is set to reach a new level. Whether Manhattan becomes their battlefield or their path to reconciliation remains to be seen.
