DC fans have been waiting for this day for nearly two years — and now it’s here. James Gunn has finally released the trailer for his Superman: Legacy, and die-hard followers of the often-battered cinematic universe instantly grabbed their magnifying glasses: Easter eggs, callbacks, and classic 'if you look closely in the background, you’ll spot…' moments.
We’ve collected the biggest ones — and it’s honestly madness in the best Gunn tradition.
A little context
At the heart of the film is a young Clark Kent, played by David Corenswet, just beginning his career at the Daily Planet and still not used to having every move captured by cameras. Lois Lane is played by Rachel Brosnahan, and a balding (but charismatic) Lex Luthor is portrayed by Nicholas Hoult. They’re joined by a whole roster of familiar and new heroes: from Green Lantern to Metamorpho and Mister Terrific. And of course, Krypto — the super-dog and Superman’s best friend. The film releases on July 11, but DC fans are already theorising about how it ties into future projects — and you’ll soon see why.
Easter eggs you noticed, but maybe didn’t quite get
Superhero arrest
Superman is arrested by not one, but three individuals: Rick Flag Sr., The Engineer, and Ultraman. Flag Sr. is the head of ARGUS, who’s previously worked with the Creature Commandos, and now he’s hunting Superman — and, according to rumours, Peacemaker next (John Cena, we’ve missed you!).
The Engineer is in
The Engineer, an ally of Luthor’s, can turn her body into weaponry using nanites. She’s part of the anti-hero team The Authority — a standalone film about them is already in the works.
Metamorpho and kryptonite
Metamorpho can transform his body into various elements. In the trailer, he clearly uses kryptonite against Superman during the prison scene. Whose side is he really on?

Lordtech everywhere
The new 'corporate Justice League' — Green Lantern, Hawkgirl, and Mister Terrific — all work for Lordtech, the company owned by billionaire Maxwell Lord (played by Sean Gunn). The Lordtech building, the microphone in Lois’s hand, and the stadium where the heroes fight — it’s all branded.
Smaller Easter eggs (still very cool)
– A newspaper headline about the war in Borravia hints that Superman intervened — and only made things worse.
– A new villain nicknamed 'The Borravian Hammer' appears in an armoured suit.
– A massive slime-spitting kaiju — rumoured to be one of Luthor’s experiments.
– Big Belly Burger is back: signs on the street, ads in the stadium.
– Metropolis has suffered a flood — possibly Metamorpho’s doing.
– Eve Teschmacher appears — Luthor’s companion from the classic films.

– Chocos HQ (DC’s version of Oreos) is under attack. Guess who’s not happy? That’s right — Martian Manhunter.
– In the Daily Planet office, there’s a Superman figurine designed after the movie’s version.
– Jitters — the coffee shop from Peacemaker — now serves Clark Kent. Another crossover hint.
– A Green Lantern ring shield appears briefly in the final battle.
– On Superman’s wall hangs a poster for the band 'Mighty Crabjoys'. They’ve shown up in other DCU projects.
– A pocket dimension appears — a place where space and time follow different rules. Gunn promised it, and he delivers.

No surprise that fans are thrilled — this trailer alone feels like a pitch for an entire cinematic universe. Some viewers on social media have already confessed to rewatching it 12 times. And we’ll just remind you: only one Superman flight remains between now and the premiere — from Earth to the Moon.
