Nolan’s 'The Odyssey' Expands: More Stars, More Locations, and an Epic in the Making

Christopher Nolan, Cosmo Jarvis, Zendaya, Tom Holland

Highly anticipated Nolan’s epic adaptation gains momentum.

Christopher Nolan’s upcoming epic, The Odyssey, continues to build excitement as a star from FX’s Shōgun joins its already impressive ensemble. Filming is currently in progress in Morocco, with plans to move to Sicily as the production expands.

A Star-Studded Retelling of a Timeless Classic

Nolan’s latest venture is an ambitious adaptation of Homer’s The Odyssey, the legendary ancient Greek epic that follows King Odysseus on his perilous journey home after the Trojan War. His odyssey takes him through mythical trials, including encounters with the Cyclops Polyphemus, the Sirens, the nymph Calypso, and the sorceress Circe, while his wife Penelope struggles to fend off suitors awaiting her husband's presumed demise. The film boasts a powerhouse cast, featuring Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Zendaya, Anne Hathaway, Lupita Nyong’o, Robert Pattinson, Charlize Theron, Jon Bernthal, Elliott Page, Benny Safdie, Himesh Patel, Bill Irwin and others.

A Rising Star Joins the Journey

The latest addition to the project is Cosmo Jarvis, known for his standout performance in FX’s hit drama Shōgun, which recently won a SAG Award for Best Ensemble. Jarvis has also starred in Lady Macbeth, Calm With Horses, and Persuasion, and is set to appear alongside Robert De Niro in the Warner Bros. gangster film The Alto Knights and in A24’s Warfare. His growing resume and commanding screen presence make him a strong addition to Nolan’s ensemble.

A Long-Awaited Cinematic Spectacle

Produced by Nolan and Emma Thomas, The Odyssey is one of the director’s most ambitious projects to date. Universal has set an IMAX release for July 17, 2026, marking another grand-scale theatrical experience from the visionary filmmaker.

With filming well underway and its cast still expanding, The Odyssey is shaping up to be a cinematic event of epic proportions. As production moves across continents, anticipation continues to build for what could be one of the most breathtaking adaptations of Homer’s timeless tale.
