If you still believe that the best sci-fi is only coming from Netflix — prepare to be surprised. While the streaming giant churns out sequels and predictable trilogies, Apple TV+ is slowly but steadily building its own universe of premium cinema.
Not as loud, but smarter, visually stronger, and fresher in delivery. And if you haven’t yet seen a single sci-fi series from Apple — it probably just means you didn’t know where to start.
See (2019)
A distant future without sight. Humanity has lost the ability to see and now lives in a post-apocalyptic world of clans and tribes. Then — twins are born into one family who can see. They’re hunted, protected, and placed at the heart of a breathtaking tale filled with stunning landscapes and moral dilemmas. Jason Momoa as the father is another great reason to start watching tonight.
Amazing Stories (2020)
An anthology with an old-school vibe, created with the involvement of none other than Steven Spielberg. Each episode is a separate tale of wonders — the kind you could imagine being shared around a campfire. No blasters or aliens here, but there’s magic — subtle and deeply human.
For All Mankind (2019)
What if it were Soviet cosmonauts — not American astronauts — who first landed on the Moon? This series constructs a complex alternate reality in which world history took a different course. At the core are not rockets, but people. Their fears, ambitions, triumphs, and failures. Rich storytelling, strong dialogue, and a brilliant sense of time and place.
Servant (2019)
Not quite sci-fi, but impossible to ignore. A Philadelphia family loses their infant child. In an attempt to cope with grief, the mother begins caring for a doll... and then something unexplainable happens. Eerie, mystical, and gripping. The series is produced by M. Night Shyamalan — and that says a lot.
Apple TV+ hasn’t yet become the streaming giant that Netflix is, but it has something the competition has long been missing: auteur vision and a fresh approach. So if you’re tired of formula — it may be time to take a bite of the apple.
