Netflix Is Bringing Two Major Keanu Reeves Projects to Life: What We Know About the 'BRZRKR' Film and Anime Series

Global Look Press — Keanu Reeves

The details are already impressive.

Keanu Reeves is about to surprise his fans in a whole new way. His very own comic book, BRZRKR, which tells the story of an immortal warrior, is officially heading to the screen. The film will be directed by Justin Lin, best known for helming five Fast & Furious movies.

What Do We Know About the BRZRKR Movie?

The adaptation of BRZRKR is currently in development at Netflix. Keanu Reeves will not only star in the lead role but also serve as a producer. The script is being handled by Mattson Tomlin, the writer behind Terminator: Zero and The Batman – Part II starring Robert Pattinson. The plot revolves around a demigod cursed with immortality, working for the government. In exchange for completing classified missions, he hopes to uncover the truth about his origins — and possibly find a way to finally die.

Why Is Justin Lin an Interesting Choice?

Lin is renowned for his ability to craft high-energy, visually stunning action films — his work on Fast & Furious turned the franchise into a global phenomenon. Now, he is set to take on a darker and more brutal action film, where Keanu Reeves is likely to embody another relentless assassin, reminiscent of his John Wick persona.

Interestingly, Lin and Reeves have worked together before — Keanu was involved in the production of The Last Days, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival.

When Will It Be Released?

No official release date has been announced yet, but the project is in active development. In addition to the live-action film, Netflix is also working on an anime series based on BRZRKR, expanding the universe of Reeves’ original comic.

The biggest question remains — what will the final film look like? If Lin manages to balance action with drama and Reeves delivers his signature charisma, we could be looking at the next cult action hit. After all, the first issue of BRZRKR was one of the best-selling comics of the past decade!
