Rising horror auteurs Danny and Michael Philippou may be inching closer to the world of capes and contracts. The Australian brothers behind last year’s breakout indie hit Talk to Me, as well as the upcoming Bring Her Back, recently confirmed they’ve had discussions with Marvel Studios about directing a future project. As ever with Marvel, details are firmly under lock and key — but that hasn’t stopped speculation from swirling, especially around still-directorless properties like Blade and Ghost Rider.
Whether the Philippous will ultimately join the MCU remains uncertain. Though the opportunity comes with prestige and a blockbuster paycheck, their creative instincts lean toward the unpredictable and original. In fact, the brothers turned down a DC project offered by James Gunn just last year, saying they preferred to focus on telling their own stories rather than slotting into a larger cinematic machine.
Marvel, meanwhile, could certainly use a fresh injection of their style. With Blade still stuck in development limbo, the idea of handing the reins to bold, boundary-pushing filmmakers has fans intrigued — and a little hopeful. The Philippous have proven they can do tension, tone, and the supernatural. Whether they'll say 'yes' to this universe is another story.

Either way, it’s a promising prospect — one that suggests the studio, and perhaps the directors themselves, are open to riskier, weirder storytelling.
