Revealing that she confronted individuals who made hurtful remarks about her physique. In a recent interview with 60 Minutes, Winslet became emotional while discussing the criticism she faced regarding her weight after the film’s massive success.
“It was absolutely appalling,” she stated, visibly moved as a clip aired showcasing someone's comments about her dress size. She questioned, "What kind of person would do that to a young actress just trying to navigate her career?" When asked if she had ever confronted those who made derogatory remarks, Winslet recounted a face-to-face encounter. “I let them have it. I said, ‘I hope this haunts you,’” she shared, tears welling in her eyes.
It was a significant moment, not just for me, but for anyone who has faced that kind of harassment. It was horrific; it was really bad.
In a separate interview with Harper’s Bazaar UK, Winslet revealed that a crew member on the set of her latest film suggested she sit up straighter to hide her “belly rolls.” She recounted, "There’s a scene where Lee’s sitting on a bench in a bikini, and someone said, ‘You might want to sit up straighter.’ So you can't see my belly rolls? Not on your life! It was intentional, you know?"
Proud of her body, Winslet emphasized, “It is my life on my face, and that matters. It would never occur to me to hide that.” Her words resonate as a celebration of body acceptance and self-love.
