The first trailer for this continuation of the beloved franchise was released on 17th December 2024 and has garnered over 17 million views on YouTube. Currently, Karate Kid: Legends is scheduled for release on 30th May 2025, although the posters indicate "Coming Soon," hinting that a new release date may be announced shortly.
If it retains its current date, the film will face stiff competition at the box office from Disney's live-action Lilo & Stitch (23rd May), Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning (23rd May), From the World of John Wick: Ballerina (6th June), and Universal's live-action How to Train Your Dragon (13th June).
Initially thought to be a reboot, the film will see Jackie Chan reprise his role as Mr. Han from the 2010 film, while Ralph Macchio returns as Daniel LaRusso from the original series. The story introduces Ben Wang as Li Fong, a teen from China who relocates to New York City and discovers strength through martial arts.
