When fans start to entertain conspiracy theories, the lines between films start to blur. Especially when Leonardo DiCaprio is in the lead role. What if Titanic and The Great Gatsby aren’t two separate films, but the story of one man, told in two chapters? This theory sounds like a scenario for a fantasy crossover, but there are details that make you think.
Titanic (1997)
Let’s start with Jack. He is an artist, romantic, and adventurer who goes to America in search of a better life. But tragedy destroys his dreams: the ship goes down, and Jack sacrifices himself for Rose. Or… almost?
The Great Gatsby (2013)
In theory, Jack survived, but decided not to return to the past. He creates a new identity - Jay Gatsby. Gatsby's origins are shrouded in mystery: he was poor, worked on a ship, then suddenly became rich. He is afraid of water. Everything is like Jack. Even his love is the same — strong, destructive, doomed. Only now, instead of an iceberg, there is light from the pier.

Coincidences that are alarming
● Both heroes are obsessed with the past and the woman they love;
● They are both "self-made" gentlemen;
● Gatsby, like Jack, lives a myth;
● And, of course, they were played by the same actor, as if hinting: this is one soul in two worlds.
Is the theory crazy? Of course. But it's so graceful that it'll be hard to rewatch Titanic without thinking about Gatsby.
