Zendaya could be stepping into a world of gamblers, gangsters, and showgirls, as the Emmy-winning actress is reportedly in talks to lead Rob Marshall’s remake of the1955 iconic classic Guys and Dolls, starring Marlon Brando and Frank Sinatra. First reported in Production Weekly, the project appears to be gaining real momentum after years of developmental limbo.
If cast, this would mark Zendaya’s second musical role on the big screen, following her performance in The Greatest Showman (2017), where she sang and performed acrobatic choreography alongside Zac Efron.
While Zendaya has a packed 2025 lineup — including Euphoria, The Odyssey, Dune: Messiah, and a supporting turn in Spider-Man 4 — her 2026 slate appears open, potentially making room for the musical’s production schedule.

The remake’s screenplay is being written by John Requa and Glenn Ficarra, the duo behind Crazy, Stupid, Love and Bad Santa. .A number of big names are reportedly in the mix for the two male leads, including Channing Tatum, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Hugh Jackman, Russell Crowe, and Vin Diesel.
Marshall, best known for his Oscar-winning debut Chicago, has been linked to Guys and Dolls since the early 2000s. He originally passed on the project after Chicago, saying he wanted a break from musicals — but now seems ready to return to the genre that defined his career.
