HBO’s 'The Gilded Age' Returns for Season 3 with New Power Struggles and Ambitions: First Look

Gilded age still

The American Gilded Age was a time of dramatic economic growth and social upheaval, where empires rose and fell, and no victory came without sacrifice.

Following the Opera War, the old elite weakened, paving the way for the Russells to ascend to society’s pinnacle. Bertha aims for a prize that could elevate her family to unimaginable heights, while George risks everything on a daring railroad gambit that could revolutionize industry — or ruin him entirely. Meanwhile, across the street, the Brook household faces turmoil as Agnes refuses to accept Ada’s new role as lady of the house. Peggy encounters a charming doctor from Newport whose family disapproves of her career ambitions. As New York races toward an uncertain future, their ambitions threaten to cost them what they hold most dear.

Season 3 features an impressive cast including Carrie Coon, Christine Baranski, Cynthia Nixon, Morgan Spector, Taissa Farmiga, Harry Richardson, and many more. The series is created by Julian Fellowes (Downton Abbey) with executive producers Gareth Neame, David Crockett, Michael Engler (also directing), Bob Greenblatt, Sonja Warfield, and Salli Richardson-Whitfield. It is a co-production between HBO and Universal Television.

Premiering Sunday, June 22 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on HBO and streaming on Max, the eight-episode third season continues to explore themes of ambition, power, and societal change during America’s gilded age — a period where progress often came at a personal cost.
