Renee Zellweger repeatedly gained weight for her role in the cult franchise Bridget Jones, and then quickly lost it again. However, the methods she used to get back into shape raise questions.
How Zellweger lost weight: ice cubes instead of food
One of the techniques the actress resorted to was gnawing on ice cubes. According to her, this helped her cope with hunger and also forced the body to spend more energy.
"Water entering the body must warm up to body temperature before being absorbed in the stomach. This does require some energy, but, unfortunately, not too much," the expert explains.

However, in addition to the unusual way of fighting hunger, Zellweger was actively involved in sports, which most likely played a role in the process of losing weight. So the merit of ice here is minimal.
“If a person is in a state of warming up, he can really use cold food or drinks to cool the body. Perhaps the actress simply liked to gnaw on ice, and the effect of burning calories was just a small bonus,” the nutritionist notes.
Ice cubes instead of food - two possible side effects
The method used by Renee Zellweger, although not the most harmful, is far from effective. The expert warns: such tricks do not replace a balanced diet and can lead to problems with the gastrointestinal tract or even provoke eating disorders.

“Extreme weight loss methods often seem like a quick fix, but it’s important to remember that healthy and sustainable results are only achieved with a comprehensive approach: proper nutrition, sufficient protein and physical activity,” the specialist concludes.
