Charlie Hunnam had previously lost 20 pounds for his role in Sons of Anarchy. During the audition process for King Arthur: Legend of the Sword, director Guy Ritchie was noticeably bothered by Hunnam’s appearance, despite liking his acting.
Ritchie asked him about his physique four times, emphasizing its importance to the role. Frustrated by the repeated focus on his physicality, Hunnam responded directly, saying:
"Look, dude, you keep bringing this up, the physicality. It's obviously your primary concern. So if you want to do away with all this auditioning bollocks, I'll fucking fight those other two dudes. I know who they are. You can bring them both in here. I'll fight them both. The one who walks out the door gets the job."
His boldness paid off, and Hunnam ultimately secured the role of King Arthur.
