Tom Hanks is setting sail once again. The Oscar-winning actor and writer is returning to both pen and star in the sequel to Greyhound, his well-received World War II drama for Apple. Production is expected to begin in January 2026 in Sydney, Australia, with director Aaron Schneider and producer Gary Goetzman also back on board.
Expanding the story beyond the Atlantic, the new chapter will follow Captain Krause and the Greyhound crew from the D-Day landings at Normandy to the intense battles of the Pacific Theater. Talks are ongoing with key members of the original cast, including Stephen Graham, whose recent performance in Netflix’s Adolescence earned critical acclaim. While deals are not yet finalised, hopes are high for a strong reunion.
The 2020 film Greyhound, adapted from C.S. Forester’s novel The Good Shepherd, focused on an inexperienced U.S. Navy commander leading an Allied convoy across the treacherous Atlantic, stalked by German U-boats.

The new story promises an even broader canvas, moving from the grey, stormy waters of the Atlantic to the sprawling, dangerous expanse of the Pacific.
