A former actor and the creative mind behind Netflix’s fourth-largest English-language series, Barantini is reportedly in talks to helm a film adaptation of the cherished novel The Alchemist, as confirmed by sources to Variety.
Legendary Entertainment is producing this project based on Paulo Coelho's book, first published in 1988. With over 150 million copies sold, it has dominated the New York Times best-seller list for more than 400 weeks and holds the record for being the most translated work by a living author. Legendary has recently generated excitement in Hollywood, having produced the surprise hit A Minecraft Movie for Warner Bros.
The Alchemist follows Santiago, a young shepherd who embarks on a journey in search of a treasure as extraordinary as any ever discovered. With Barantini at the helm, fans are eager to see how this beloved tale will be brought to life on the big screen.
