Scheduled for release on November 11 by Insight Editions, this coffee table-sized volume marks the beginning of a broader project that will eventually cover all ten of Quentin Tarantino’s films — his final one still in development. The collaboration stems from a three-book deal facilitated by The Story Factory’s Shane Salerno with Insight CEO Raoul Goff and publisher Vanessa Lopez. Following the first book, subsequent volumes will explore Inglourious Basterds and Django Unchained, slated for 2026 and 2027, as Tarantino and Glennie delve into behind-the-scenes stories with full access to cast members.
Tarantino will pen introductions for each book, aiming to go beyond mere behind-the-scenes anecdotes. Inspired by his novelization of Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood, which expanded on Brad Pitt’s Cliff Booth mythology — later adapted into a Netflix film directed by David Fincher — the books will reveal untold stories about the making of his movies. This includes insights into how Leonardo DiCaprio, Brad Pitt, and Margot Robbie developed their characters. DiCaprio reflects on his connection to Rick Dalton, emphasizing the importance of luck and preparation in Hollywood success, while Pitt recounts collaborating with Tarantino over ideas like Billy Jack for Cliff Booth.
Robbie shared how she channeled Sharon Tate by asking Debra Tate about her sister’s favorite perfume, which was preserved in a sealed bottle given to Robbie as a keepsake. The books also explore Tarantino’s efforts to secure rights for scenes like the Lancer series used in Once Upon a Time…, including paying for a walk-in bathtub for the widow of Samuel A. Peeples, who owned the rights.
The project celebrates Tarantino’s influence on emerging actors like Mikey Madison and Sydney Craven, highlighting how Once Upon a Time… launched their careers. Madison expresses gratitude for working with Tarantino and Vickie Thomas, noting it was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Tarantino is represented by WME’s Mike Simpson and attorney Carlos Goodman.
