Something strange is landing at Paramount — and no, it’s not just another alien flick. Jurassic World director Colin Trevorrow has signed on to helm a conspiracy thriller set in the shadows of Area 51, the most mythologised stretch of desert in America. Deadline reveals, that co-produced by Ryan Reynolds’s Maximum Effort, the film promises a retro jolt of paranoia, set in the late ’80s — when UFO fever gripped the nation and one Las Vegas journalist dared to ask too many questions.
The plot follows the man who first broke the story of Area 51 to the public — and what happens when secrets don’t want to stay buried. Reynolds will serve as executive producer, while Trevorrow brings his signature blockbuster energy to the mystery that has inspired decades of speculation, fan theories, and midnight rewatches of Independence Day. Will this film finally reveal what’s really out there? Or just remind us how deep the rabbit hole goes?

What’s certain is this: Area 51 hasn’t been this hot since Mulder and Scully were on speed dial. The combination of Trevorrow's scale and Reynolds’s offbeat instincts could be the perfect storm. Keep your eyes on the sky — and your TVs tuned in.
