Intriguing news that Greta Gerwig has expressed interest in collaborating with Mikey Madison, the newly crowned Best Actress winner for her role in Anora. Notably, Gerwig was the head of the Cannes jury that awarded Anora the prestigious Palme d’Or last summer.
While THR does not detail the specific project Gerwig has in mind for Madison, it’s clear that Gerwig is currently focused on her ambitious Narnia franchise, for which she is set to direct two films for Netflix. However, it’s also possible that Madison could be considered for a different project in the future.
Filming for Gerwig’s Narnia launch, rumored to be The Magician’s Nephew, is slated to begin in the UK from June through Christmas 2025, with a fall start date anticipated. Although there are no casting announcements yet, auditions are underway for young characters aged 10 or 11, and Saoirse Ronan is rumored to have a role.
Gerwig’s Narnia, expected to hit IMAX screens in November 2026, is projected to have a budget exceeding $200 million.
