After a string of flops, Marvel is back with a promising superhero action movie that will bring together almost all of the franchise's most famous actors, including those who have long since left. In addition to Robert Downey Jr., who will now return in a new role, Avengers: Doomsday will also feature Alan Cumming, who last appeared in 2003's X-Men 2, where he played Nightcrawler.
Development of the upcoming film has already begun, and filming is set to begin very soon, but Alan Cumming himself already has something to share.
Alan Cumming is delighted with his transformation into Nightcrawler after 20 years
For the actor, Doomsday will be his first superhero film in 23 years, so Cumming certainly has something to compare it to — and so far, the actor has noticed a huge difference in the process of preparing for the role for X-Men 2 and Doomsday.

He recently admitted that he has already tested the makeup several times with the film's team and was absolutely delighted — at least because the entire process now takes only an hour and a half instead of four and a half, as it did during the filming of X-Men 2. The actor also added that his character's numerous tattoos used to be applied by hand — with Doomsday, everything is different, and special stickers are used for tattoos, the image of which remains on the face after just a minute.
Doomsday Now Has a Special Mission to Bring Back Marvel's Success
The upcoming blockbuster from the superhero film studio could finally bring back the glory of both the company itself and the Russo brothers, whose last film, Electric State, starring Millie Bobby Brown, was panned by critics. Marvel, in turn, is also going through hard times after a series of unsuccessful releases, such as last year's Madame Web or the relatively recent Kraven the Hunter.
Now that the next film will not only bring together almost the entire Hollywood, but also bring Robert Downey Jr. back to the franchise, Marvel can well count on the fact that the good times are just around the corner. The premiere of Doomsday is currently scheduled for May 1, 2026.
