Everyone's Favorite Rom-Com Trilogy is Leaving Netflix This Week, Just Ahead of the Fourth Film

Still from the movie 'Bridget Jones's Diary' (2001)

It's time to rewatch hit films from the 2000s.

Life on Netflix never stops buzzing — the streaming service continually adds long-awaited new releases or bids farewell to old hits that have become classics of world cinema. This week will be a difficult test for fans of Bridget Jones movies, as they will be leaving Netflix in just a couple of days. So now is the best time to revisit the rom-com classics, especially with the release of the fourth and final film just around the corner.

Bridget Jones's Diary and it's sequels will no longer be available on Netflix starting January 20

The streaming service announced this itself. The decision to remove the films from it's collection was made shortly before the release of the fourth and last installment of the franchise — Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy will hit theaters worldwide on February 14 this year. Renée Zellweger and Hugh Grant will return to their roles, and new characters will also appear in the film.

Still from the movie 'Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy' (2025)

The fourth film in the franchise will be quite different from the previous ones

In the final installment, the story will once again revolve around Bridget Jones, who, after the death of Mark Darcy, is left a single mother with two children and is now trying to get her personal life back on track. Fans of the three previous films are already preparing for the fact that they might need tissues before heading to the cinema — first, they were shocked by the news that Colin Firth wouldn't be returning to his role, and then Hugh Grant admitted that the upcoming film has indeed turned out to be quite sad. Whether there will be a happy ending for the beleaguered Bridget remains unknown, but fans can still distract themselves from gloomy thoughts and dedicate two whole evenings to watching Bridget Jones's Diary while all the films are still available on Netflix.
