Sometimes a series draws you in so deeply, it becomes a part of your life. We follow the characters for years, sharing their highs and lows. And we hope for a finale that does them justice. But sometimes, those final minutes destroy everything we believed in. Here are five screen sagas with endings their fans have never forgiven.
How I Met Your Mother (2005–2014)
A story stretched across nine seasons turned into a cruel joke: the long-awaited 'mother' appeared only near the end — and was quickly written out. In the finale, Ted suddenly returns to Robin, as if the entire journey never happened. Fans were outraged: what was the point of the long search?
Lost (2004–2010)
This mystical thriller about island survivors kept viewers on edge for six seasons, masterfully weaving mysteries and raising questions — only to leave everyone utterly confused by the end. Purgatory, alternate realities, character deaths — it all blended into one chaotic mess, leaving even the most loyal fans baffled.

Supernatural (2005–2020)
The Winchester brothers fought demons, apocalypses, and gods — only to exit life in a surprisingly mundane way. After fifteen seasons of heroism, Dean is killed by a random wound during an ordinary hunt. A strange, underwhelming conclusion that viewers still struggle to accept.
Dexter (2006–2013)
Two endings — two disappointments. In the original finale, Dexter fakes his death and becomes a lumberjack. In the revival, Dexter: New Blood, he’s killed by his own son. Neither version gave fans the closure they longed for. Instead of justice, they were left with emptiness.
Game of Thrones (2011–2019)
Once George R. R. Martin’s books ran out, so did the magic. The showrunners rushed the ending: Daenerys dies, Bran takes the throne, the intrigue disappears. But what hurt fans most wasn’t what happened — it was how quickly it all unfolded. A finale that became the very symbol of disappointment.
