Euphoria seems to be opening new doors for its actors. The widely known series has elevated the careers of Zendaya, Sydney Sweeney, Jacob Elordi, and Hunter Schafer, and now it's Austin Abrams' turn.
Per Deadline, Abrams, best known for his role as Ethan Lewis on HBO’s Euphoria, is in early talks to star in Zach Cregger’s reboot of the Constantin-Sony adaptation of the Capcom video game Resident Evil. However, no official comment has been received from Sony as of yet.
The latest iteration of Resident Evil, which honors the roots of the original horror video game, is set for a theatrical release on September 18, 2026. Cregger co-wrote the script with Shay Hatten.Cregger’s remake of Resident Evil caught the attention of several studios, including Warner Bros., but ultimately, Sony ensured that the $1.2 billion-grossing franchise remained under their control at the Culver City lot.

The Resident Evil franchise has had several adaptations. The original film series (2002-2016), directed by Paul W.S. Anderson, was a global hit. A 2021 reboot, Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City, aimed for a more faithful game adaptation, while the 2021 Netflix series Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness followed Leon S. Kennedy and Claire Redfield.
