Netflix is set to produce a new six-part limited series based on Jane Austen's classic novel, Pride and Prejudice. Emma Corrin (Nosferatu, Black Mirror) will portray Elizabeth Bennet, with Jack Lowden (Slow Horses, Benediction) as Mr. Darcy and Olivia Colman (The Favourite, The Crown) as Mrs. Bennet. Filming will take place in the U.K. later this year.
The adaptation is penned by Dolly Alderton (Everything I Know About Love) and directed by Euros Lyn (Heartstopper), who will also serve as an executive producer alongside Corrin, Laura Lankester, Will Johnston, and Louise Mutter for Lookout Point. Lisa Osborne is producing.
Austen’s second novel follows Elizabeth Bennet, the second of five daughters facing societal pressure to marry well to secure their future. The story explores themes of manners, morality, and marriage within the British Regency's landed gentry.

Alderton expressed her excitement about retelling this iconic story:
“Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice is the blueprint for romantic comedy... I am thrilled to reintroduce these beloved characters.” Corrin added that playing Elizabeth Bennet is a “once-in-a-lifetime opportunity” to bring this iconic character to life.
This adaptation joins a long line of interpretations of the beloved tale, including the acclaimed 1995 BBC miniseries and the 2005 film starring Keira Knightley.
