Drew Barrymore has revealed that she was overwhelmed with anxiety ahead of the opening weekend of Charlie’s Angels back in 2000 — and that pressure may have helped shape her hopes for the franchise’s future.
On a recent episode of The Drew Barrymore Show, the actress and producer opened up about how nerve-wracking it was to release the action-comedy, which starred her alongside Cameron Diaz and Lucy Liu. "I was so nervous," she said. "I was shaking in my pants."
Despite the film pulling in over $40 million on its opening weekend — and eventually grossing $264 million globally — Barrymore said her reaction was more relief than joy. "People were like, 'Aren’t you happy?' And I was like, 'No, I’m relieved... if it didn’t go well, we’d be in big trouble.'"

The actress and producer has continued celebrating the film’s legacy on her talk show — but now, talk has shifted toward a possible third movie, with The Batman star Zoë Kravitz expressing interest in directing it. In a previous episode, Kravitz confessed her dream of directing a Charlie’s Angels reboot.
"Can I just say? I don’t know what the plan is, but if there’s a Charlie’s Angels reboot, that would be my dream to direct," she told Barrymore. "Those are my favorite movies — to the point where I’ve called my agent about this."
To which Barrymore replied, "I called my agent too and was like, 'Would Zoë ever consider…'" The two burst into laughter as Kravitz exclaimed, "Shut up! Shut up!" before adding, "I can’t believe we just made a deal on television!"

It may have started as fan enthusiasm, but with agents involved and mutual excitement on-air, a third Charlie’s Angels just might take flight.
