Charlie Kaufman, Eddie Redmayne, Tessa Thompson, Patsy Ferran

Kaufman’s long-awaited return brings a mind-bending story.

Oscar-winning filmmaker Charlie Kaufman has officially announced his next cinematic endeavor, Later The War, a film he will both write and direct. The project boasts an impressive cast, featuring Eddie Redmayne, Tessa Thompson, and Patsy Ferran in lead roles.

Kaufman’s latest venture is an adaptation of Debby’s Dream House, a short story by acclaimed author Iddo Gefen, from his collection Jerusalem Beach. The original tale follows a man who crafts dreams for people, only to find himself producing nightmares instead. While exact plot details remain under wraps, the film is expected to carry Kaufman’s signature mix of surrealism and existential depth.

A-List Talent Joins Kaufman’s Vision

Eddie Redmayne steps into the film fresh off his acclaimed role in Peacock’s The Day of the Jackal, a performance that earned him Golden Globe and Critics Choice nominations. Meanwhile, Tessa Thompson is set for a packed year with roles in the Netflix series His & Hers and the feature film Hedda. Rising star Patsy Ferran, who recently appeared on Broadway in A Streetcar Named Desire, is also joining the ensemble, bringing her remarkable stage presence to the screen.

Charlie Kaufman

Known for his unique, mind-bending storytelling in films like Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and Synecdoche, New York, Kaufman has built a reputation for crafting deeply philosophical and visually inventive narratives. With Later The War, audiences can expect another ambitious exploration of human consciousness and the blurred line between dreams and reality.

With its compelling premise, visionary director, and star-studded cast, Later The War is already shaping up to be one of the most anticipated projects in Kaufman’s career.
