The calm life ends immediately: near their home is a sharp corner where car crashes happen one after another. Josh becomes obsessed with the idea of saving people. But the more he helps, the deeper he falls into a psychological abyss.
Josh is not a rescuer or a maniac. He’s a father who can’t cope with the tragedies of others or his own anxiety.
Key details
Director Jason Buxton (Black Bird) adapted a short story by Canadian writer Russell Wangersky. The plot sounds simple, but it’s the details that set the tone. The scene where, during an intimate moment between the couple, a wheel from a crashed car crashes through the house is perhaps the most terrifying. Absurdity and horror delivered head-on.
The film has been available online since May 9. And if you enjoy slow-burning, unsettling thrillers, Sharp Corner is worth your attention.
