Jim Caviezel, star of The Passion of the Christ and Sound of Freedom, is teaming up with two-time Oscar nominee John Travolta (Pulp Fiction ) on a faith-driven action-thriller titled Syndicate.
The story follows Patrick O’Malley (James Caviezel), a former criminal who, after nearly 30 years in prison, finds faith and redemption. He then becomes an FBI informant working undercover alongside Special Agent Felix Miller (Travolta) to dismantle the country’s largest organized crime syndicate. Asif Akbar (Boneyard) is writing and directing the film, which Arclight Films has boarded for international sales. The team plans to shoot this summer in the U.S., with production led by Akbar through Akbar Media and Colin Bates for Dream Syndicate.
Akbar’s recent work includes Boneyard, starring Mel Gibson and 50 Cent, distributed by Lionsgate. Caviezel, a devout Catholic, recently starred in Sound of Freedom — a major box office hit produced by Angel Studios —and will reprise his role as Jesus in Gibson’s The Passion of the Christ: Resurrection. Travolta’s latest roles include action films Cash Out and Cash Out 2: High Rollers. The project aims to blend faith-based themes with intense action, appealing to audiences seeking inspirational yet thrilling stories.
