The Cannes Film Festival has announced the program for the 78th edition, as well as a first look at Ari Aster's neo-Western Eddington, starring Joaquin Phoenix and Pedro Pascal. The new work by the director of Beau Is Afraid will debut in the main competition of the Cannes Film Festival, which will be held from May 13 to 21.
The film is described as a black comedy thriller in the setting of a modern Western. The plot will unfold during a pandemic and will tell about the sheriff (Phoenix) of a small town in New Mexico, who enters into a political struggle with the local mayor (Pascal).
The film also stars Emma Stone and Austin Butler. The film was directed by Ari Aster. The release of Eddington is expected to start this summer
