While Angelina Jolie has spent decades in front of the camera, she says her children have no desire to follow in her footsteps. During a panel at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival on February 5, the Oscar-winning actress admitted that none of her six children have an "affinity" for the film industry.
No Interest in Hollywood Fame
"I always wanted them to be around film because it's such a wonderful family, to be creative, to be an artist," Jolie explained. "They're not interested. They really don't like any of the celebrity part of it, especially Shiloh, who hates it."
Despite their lack of interest in acting, Jolie’s children have still engaged with film in different ways. Her sons Maddox and Pax have worked behind the scenes, assisting in film production. "It’s good to start them in working," Jolie said. "They’ve been doing anything and everything on set, from assisting to photography."

A Different Approach to Creativity
Jolie, who shares Maddox (23), Pax (21), Zahara (20), Shiloh (18), and twins Knox Léon and Vivienne Marcheline (16) with ex-husband Brad Pitt, noted that while her children may not want to act, they have their own creative outlets. "Some of them dance, some of them paint, some of them love theater," she shared, emphasizing their individual artistic pursuits.
Her daughter Vivienne has already stepped into the entertainment world — but behind the scenes. She co-produced the Broadway adaptation of The Outsiders with Jolie in early 2024. The actress praised her daughter's dedication, admitting, "She takes it very seriously. She’ll correct me — 'Didn’t you read the memo?' She’s been a really tough assistant."
Letting Them Choose Their Own Paths
While many celebrity children feel pressure to continue their parents' legacy, Jolie insists on giving her kids the freedom to choose their own paths. "I hope I'm giving them space to figure out who they actually are," she said. "Something that they want to live for that’s authentic to them so it holds in their life." For now, it seems Hollywood’s next generation won’t include a Jolie-Pitt on the big screen — at least, not in front of the camera.
