The third Maleficent is in development at Disney. At the moment, the studio has not officially announced the production of the film. An official announcement is expected to take place this year. When will Maleficent 3 be released?
The first Maleficent was released in 2014, becoming a great success. The film shows the past of the villain and how she got close to Aurora. The budget was $ 180 million, and the box office exceeded $ 758 million. The sequel was released five years later. The story focuses on Maleficent's problems when Aurora gets engaged. With similar costs to the original, the box office was $491.7 million.
Despite the drop in box office receipts, Disney still decided to launch a third installment. Perhaps the studio believes that viewers want Maleficent. If production of the new part starts soon, the premiere could take place at the end of 2027. Disney has two suitable dates for this year: September 17 and October 8.
