In a breathtaking moment that defies both fear and age, Final Destination: Bloodlines has set a new bar for death-defying stunts. Directors Zach Lipovsky and Adam B. Stein revealed to Entertainment Weekly how they convinced 71-year-old Yvette Ferguson to come out of retirement for a scene so intense, it shattered a world record. The stunt? Lighting Ferguson on fire in a full-body burn, marking her as the oldest person ever set ablaze on camera.
"We lit so many different people on fire, including breaking the world record for the oldest person on fire with Yvette Ferguson," Lipovsky shared. "She did that full-body burn in the silver dress. That was the oldest person ever on fire, on camera."
Brec Bassinger, one of the film's stars, witnessed the fiery stunt firsthand, recalling,
"Oh, I was on set when they lit her on fire! I was within her vicinity. God, it was beautiful. Everyone started clapping… She was so pumped."
The scene opens the film, setting the tone for the extreme, high-stakes action that Final Destination is known for. Bassinger admitted that the literal danger of the set made her performance even more real: "At some point, I wasn’t even acting." This jaw-dropping stunt is just the beginning of what promises to be another heart-stopping chapter in the franchise.
